Peak Performance Buoyancy

Elevate your buoyancy skills to the next level!

Who should take this course

Excellent buoyancy control is what defines skilled scuba divers. They glide effortlessly, they use less air and can ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They more easily observe aquatic life because they don’t disturb their surroundings.  The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level.

You must be at least 12 years old and have a PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers or higher certification to take the Peak Performance Buoyancy course.

What You Learn

During one pool session and two open water scuba dives, you’ll learn how to:

  1. Determine the exact weight you need, so you’re not too light or too heavy.
  2. Trim your weight system and scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water.
  3. Streamline to save energy, use air more efficiently and move more smoothly through the water.
  4. Hover effortlessly in any position – vertical or horizontal.

The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

What Scuba gear will you need

As it is best to fine-tune your buoyancy in the gear you’ll use every day it is essential you have your own scuba equipment.  Our PADI Instructor or an Oceans Alive Team member can help you find the equipment that is best for you and your diving adventures.

How can you get started now

Come in store to enrol in the course and pick up your PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Manual and arrange a time to watch the course DVD. By reading the manual and watching the DVD before class, you’ll be ready to get in the water and start practicing your buoyancy skills when you meet with your PADI Instructor.

What are the course costs

$299.00 which covers the course materials, one pool session, two open water shore dives and PADI certification.
Equipment hire, tank fills and boat dives are additional.  Please ask in store.

We look forward to helping you to become a better diver.
